<br>Sandstorms have a great effect on many Asian countries for centuries. Scientists have tries many ways to solve this problem and so have people in China. 
In the world. there are four main places where the sandstorms happen. They are Central Asia, North America. Central Africa and Australia.
Northwest China is part of the sandstorm centre in Central Asia. Sandstorms begin in desert areas.

The desert is only 250 kilometres away to the west of Beijing. To prevent it coming nearer, the government is planting trees.
So far, the government has already planted more than 30 billion trees and plans to continue planting for the next five years. People hope it can help.

Recently, such machines have appeared at universities in Chongqing. They can turn rubbish into treasure and encourage the public to recycle rubbish. The machine is as large as a fridge. "The main aim of this project is to make emotional communication(情感交流) with children, " said Jelle Saldien, one of the researchers.
